Some of the young athletes went to the English Schools National Championships on July 11th and 12th in Gateshead. It was a weekend of tremendous highs and emotional lows, with some outstanding performances from some of our athletes.
Ann Ika Oqua ran her fastest ever time in the girls 100m qualification race which she won, and improved on that to gain a PB in the final where she came away with a silver medal- a truly amazing performance from her first ever English Schools Championships.
Feron Sawyers took silver in the boys high jump, whilst Alex Nwenwu took silver in the inter boys 100m hurdles.
Ann Ika Oqua and Tannika Burgess gained a gold medal each as part of the girls 4 x 100m relay team.
Benji Pearson got through to the final of the boys javelin and came 10th, whilst Oliver Barnfield also came 10th in the inter boys hammer final.
Tannika Burgess made it through to the final of the long jump, but sadly had three no jumps, a disappointment which she handled with great maturity.
Megan Dixon and Emma Douras also took part in the championships and performed well, but missed out on the finals.
Well done to all!!

The three of them do the event for Promise Dreams and this will be the 3rd year. Download an application form???????? ????? ????????.
