We have just come back from the National Relays at Sutton Park. This is a very prestigious event with many of the countries best runners taking part.
Wolves had one mens team of 12 runners and three ladies teams of six runners. The runners had it easy we also sent a massive team of volunteers who helped to marshall the event. I guess there was about 20 hardy souls who stood out in the cold, wind and rain for five hours and cheered on every Wolves runner that came past them. Well done to the volunteers a great credit to our club.
The results are on www.race-results.co.uk/results/2013/index.php The men came 53rd with Paul Hammond doing fastest long leg and Ross Jones the fastest short leg. Once again we were eclipsed by the girls this is Tess’s report;
A fifteen-strong team of WBAC’s superb senior ladies competed in the National Road Relays at Sutton Park. There were two teams of 6 and one incomplete generic ativan online team of 3. The conditions were reasonably good (although unseasonably chilly!) and the standard of competition was high. However, we achieved some excellent results with the A team finishing 24th and the B team finishing 45th out of 48 complete teams. The C team were awesome as well in spite of being a few runners short. Furthermore, the A and B teams were 4th and 14th respectively out of the complete Midlands teams. We had great support all round the course as WBAC provided the marshals for this event. Thanks to Trish for managing the team as, unfortunately, Vicki was absent due to work commitments.
Once again Tess, modestly does not mention that she was was 13th on the first leg and 31st overall out of 330 runners.
This is a superbly organised event with a very efficient results service and the best marshalls in the country, well done everybody.
