Weekly update – 23rd April 2026

Let’s start this week’s round up of results by revisiting last week. Despite having stood at the finish of the Boston Marathon and having a chat with Andy Jarvis, I completely missed him in the weekly update. Andy ran a superb 3.27.28 to take 321st place. It’s now on to London on Sunday as the next part of his charity fundraiser for the Wolves Foundation. We can also catch up on the results from Telford AC’s Spring Warm up meeting where Adeline Aston placed 4th in the 75m U10/U12 in 13.7, Aila Brown was 5th over the same distance for U12 girls in 12.6, Ezriel Enwerem was 3rd in 11.6 in the U12B division over 75m and Farrell Sogbesan was 3rd in 11.1. Over 100 metres there was a win for Ava Robinson in 13.5 in the U14G. Gabriel Quintyne-Morris placed 2nd in 13.8 and Callum Hamilton was 3rd in 14.2 in one heat of the U14B, and in another Tate-Blu Quintyne-Smith was 4th in 13.8 and Elijah Enwerem was 5th in 14.1. Despite a mix up with timings which put her in a later heat with all male athletes, Lucie Tait-Harris ran 2.39.9 over 800 metres, and over 3000 Megan White placed 4th, 1st lady, in 10.42.1, Grace Hendy was 5th, 2nd lady, in 10.46.7, Sabrina Thomas was 7th, 3rd lady, in 11.33.3, and Lucie Tait-Harris was 9th in a lactic full 12.31.9.

There was more track action at the weekend as the YDL Upper Age Group got into full swing with the first meeting of the season at Telford. Wolverhampton & Bilston finished top of the pile by almost 100 points to kick the season off to a fine start. Chyloh McKenzie won the 100 U20 A race in 11.30 with Nacardo Lewis taking 2nd in the B race in 12.0, Yaw Osei-Asabere won the U20A over 200 in 23.0, with Chyloh taking the win in the B race in 23.1. Roshane Gordon won the U20A 400 in 51.3 with James Crust taking the win in the B race in 51.6. The club had no representatives over 800 or 1500 or the lead at the top of the table could have been more comprehensive. In the long jump there was a win for Nacrado Lewis with a leap of 5.26, Yaw Osie-Asabere won the triple jump clearing 12.40, with Roshane taking the B event with 11.99. James Crust was 2nd in the shot with a throw of 5.88 metres; Jahzi Tucker was 3rd in the javelin with 32.32. The team of Kofi Ocran, Nacardo Lewis, Yaw Osei-Asabere and Chyloh McKenzie won the 4 x 100 in 45.55, the same time as the runners up, the hosts Telford AC. Roshane Gordon, Nteokan Egopija, James Crust and Zoleka Mzuku were 2nd in a mixed 4 x 400 in 4.06.2.

On the womens side of the card Nteokan Egopija was 2nd in 67.9 in the 400 metres, Zoleka Mzuku won the 1500 in 5.04.3, Nyeokan was 3rd in the long jump with a leap of 3.05. Georgina Nielson won the hammer with a throw of 38.65 and Vienos Abdullah took 1st place in the B event with 36.12. Nteokan Egopija was 2nd in the javelin with 12.61.

In the U18s events Leo Watson placed 1st in 11.5 in the 100 A race, CJ Laing was 2nd in the B race with 12.0, Leo also claimed the win in the 200 with 22.9 with Jesses Osamuyi Oni winning the B event in 23.8. Over 800 Excel Ajewole was 3rd in 58.2. In the jumps Euguene Goche was 2nd in the horizontal with 5.38 and Excel Ajewole was 2nd in the vertical with a clearance of 1.65. In the throws Tegjot Singh was 2nd in the shot with 11.85, Kofi Ocran won the B shot with 7.76. Tegjot won the discus throwing 30.85, with Eugene winning the B competition with 26.60. Excel Alewoje won the hammer throwing 14.62. Tegjot also won the javelin with a throw of 45.43 metres, Kofi Ocran was 2nd in the B event with 16.71.

In the ladies events Kayliah Henry was 3rd in the 100 in 13.8, Grace Hendy won the 1500 in 4.57.5, holding off the runner up by two hundredths of a second. Leto Dutton placed 3rd in the long jump with a leap of 3.31, Aisha Abdullah placed 1st on the hammer with a huge throw of 47.05, and Kayliah Henry was 3rd in the javelin with 10.60.

There was marathon action in Manchester where Dave Newport ran a splendid 3.08.37 to place 1972nd, Sunny Sunar was 2378th in 3.12.48, a great time on debut, and a great reward for his dedication and discipline over the winter months, Dave Joynson ran another consistent 3.25.33 in 4037th place, Lee Wright debuted over the distance with 3.49.11 in 8440th, and Gill Mitchell finished in 6.04.24 to tick another one off. According to Strava Adam Cotterill also ran, clocking around the 3.33 mark but there appears to be no mention of him on the results.

There was some off-road action over the fields, lanes and hill tops of Shropshire and the Breiddens in the Myddle Muddle 10k where the results are split into separate pages for male and female. Our former member, Jack Pickett, claimed victory by almost 5 minutes in the mens race, Julia Condon placed 37th in the ladies race in 1.17.29.

And it was back towards Telford on Wednesday where the Sexarathon Series got underway with the Lilleshall 5, Peal Dean was first back for the club in 23rd place in 29.02, Tom Isherwood was 26th in 29.12, chased by Will Hughes who was a place behind in 29.16, James Hodgkiss was 66th in 32.09, Chris Staien placed 74th in 32.30, Simon Calrow was 91st and 2nd in the M65 age group in 33.48, Sabrina Thomas was 94th and also 2nd in her age group, F35, in 33.56, Katie Staien placed 108th and 3rd F35 in 34.11, Andy Dyall was 124th in 35.02, Andy Jarvis was 129th in 35.20, Anna Moore was 214th in 40.20, Mark Perry 220th in 40.44, Nico Campbell 223rd in 40.27, Suzanne Giles 289th in 43.38, Craig Buggins 296th in 44.06 and Russ Blair crossed the line in 298th place in a time of 44.06.
