David Coleman Mile

David Coleman Mile

Third Running: Thursday 29th September 2016

For the youngsters; David Coleman was Britain’s top sports commentator for 40 years. He hosted Grandstand, Match of the Day, Question of Sport and all major Olympic and Athletic events. He was an athlete as a youngster and President of our club in the golden years when we were the best in Europe! These mile races are in honour of a great champion of our sport over his life time. Here is a link to a video which summarises a wonderful career including interviewing The Beatles.

The races will be starting at 6.30pm and finishing around 7.45pm. The races will be seeded to suit runners of all speeds. We will be encouraging some of the beginners and Fred’s group to take part in their first track experience.

There will be a number of junior races and senior races for the more experienced runners. The climax of the night should be the “A” races for ladies and men for the main trophy. There will be a first prize of £50, £30 for second and £20 for third. For anybody breaking any of the senior records there will be a further £25 prize money. These prizes can be won by anybody even if they are still a junior.

There will be further order levitra 20mg prizes for the fastest Under 17, Under 15 and Under 13 categories for both boys and girls.

The race prizes and medals should be given out this year on the track on the night by one of our distinguished guests.

The cost of race will be £2 which is payable to Tracy Cresswell in the corridor on the way to the track. When you pay could you please give an indication of your expected time, if you don’t know your coach will help you. Whilst you can pay and enter on the night it would be good to have an indication of numbers in advance.

Your support would be greatly appreciated; it is an event for all members.

The best in age category winners from the previous two years are at the bottom.
