Race Reports From Lucy Cambridge

Please let us know about your races. Here is a report from Lucy Cambridge on some races she has done recently.

Worcs Mid-week series, Race One
On Weds 14th May I took part in the first race of the Worcs mid-week series – a 10k off road race around Hagley.
Great running conditions made for some good times  – I was pleased to take over 5 minutes off my time from last year, finishing in 46.23 and move up from being 21st lady last year to 7th this year.
Even more happy to beat the lady who took the FV40 category title in the series last year, who I finished 2nd to then. Just got to beat her in 3 more runs! Thanks to Ian Harris for the support.
Would be lovely to have some company for the rest of the series:

Race 2 – Incorporating Worcs Multi Terrain Championships -11 June 2014 –

12km Multi Terrain, Arrow Valley Visitors Centre, Battens Drive, Redditch,

Race 3 – 9 July 2014 – 10km Road Run, , Droitwich High School, Briar Hill, Droitwich.

Race 4 – 13 August 2014 – 8 to 10km Multi Terrain, Nimmings Car park, Clent Hills.

Bulmers ordering synthroid Bash 10k
On Sunday 18th May, Rae Moorhouse, Trish Morgan and myself turned out for the Bulmers Bash around the orchards of Bulmers in deepest Worcestershire. It was a small race, won comfortably by Kim Falke-Williams. Supported by Andy, Carl and Lucy’s hubby, mum and kids, the three ladies slogged it out in very warm conditions, Lucy finishing in 52.07, Rae in 53.48 and Trish in 61.06.

Endurancelife Coastal Trail Series final race, Flete, Devon, 25th May.
It was my 2nd year at this event and my first race in my new W&B vest 🙂
This is a challenging off-road event which offers 4 different distances. I chose the shortest which was 8.6 miles.
The race started with a long downhill trail before emerging onto estuary sands which were hell to run on, and the headwind made it a real challenge. The course then crossed the estuary at low tide (just over knee-deep on me, I am glad I am no shorter!) and then it was a relatively straightforward, though hard-going slog up one side of the estuary on woodland trails, across a footbridge at the estuary head, down the other side, then up a long slog of a hill to finish. I finished 5th lady, 1st FV40 in 64.37, knocking 11 minutes (!) off my 2013 time 🙂
