Weekly update -11th June 2023

It a bumper edition this week because of having to wait for results to appear, while I was waiting the athletics world didn’t stop so I’ve included everything else that’s happened while the YDL elves were busy putting numbers in boxes.

We were back on track on the previous weekend with more oval based action for the club. Details have been held up again this week as results are very slow to appear online, almost a week after the event and there are still some big gaps, but here goes.

There were a few looking to medal in the Midland Counties Senior & U20 Championships at Nuneaton. La-Taunya Samuels was 6th over 200m in a U20s heat in 26.57, and also recorded 36.58 for 5th in another heat, for a very consistent day. Psalm Roberts-Nash recorded as seasons best of 48.92 for 3rd place over 400m and 49.74 for 8th. Jack Bonser was 3rd over 800m in a time of 1.58.72 with less than a second covering the first four places and Louie Lambeth was 12th in 4.19.99 over 1500m.

There was more league action in the UK YDL Lower – Midlands North/East Division as we took the short trip along the M54 to Telford. Harry Hamer placed 2nd in the 75 U13 M A in 11.7, Lewis Neilson was 6th in the 75 U13M B in 14.4, Poppy Richardson was 6th in the 75 U13W A in 13.4, Amira Moulder was 1st in the 75 U23W B in 11.2 and Kaleah Moulder placed 1st in the 75U13 W nsA in 11.9. over 100 metres there was a 6th place finish in 14.4 for Jack Richardson in the U15M A and a 5thplace finish for Alesha Taylor in the U15W A in 14.1. Brianna Sailsman was 3rd in 14.8 in the U15W B. Over 150 metres there was a 4th place in 24.9 for Grace Hamer in the U13W A and a 1st place in 21.7 for Thillana Owen in 21.7. Over 200 metres Mia Hamer placed 3rd in 30.1 in the U15W A and Maisie Roberts placed 3rd in 30.0 in the U15W A. Over 300 metres Aryan Kumar Pal was 3rd in 52.2 in the U15M A, Lucy Horton placed 2nd in 46.7 in the U15W A.

Into the middle distances there was a 4th place for Fred Jones in 2.12.1 in the U15M A race, Jack Stockton placed 2nd in 2.19.1 in the B race and Aryan Kumar Pal was 1st in 2.35.6 in the nsA race. Lucy Hortin placed 1stin 2.29.6 in the A race, Maisie Roberts was 3rd in 2.56.1 in the B race and Macy Read placed 2nd in 2.35.4 with Belle Willoughby finishing 3rd in the nsA race. In the U13 age group Jonathan Yang was 1st in 2.32.6 and Theo Ulfig was 1st in 2.39.6, Kiki Guest was 3rd in 2.37.3 in the A race and Erin-Mia Nash was 1st in 2.52.9 in the B race with Amiyah Kumar Pal taking 1st in 3.02.2 in the nsB race.

Over 1200 metres Rocco Hawley was 2nd in the U13M A in 3.57.9, Gracie Billett was 3rd in 4.25.4 in the U13W A and Alice Cattell took 1st place in 4.34.3 in the B race. Oscar Davis claimed a win in the U15M A over 1500 in 4.23.7, Jayden Burdish was 3rd in 4.57.9 in the B race. Ronni Read was 2nd in 5.17.5 in the U15W A, with Eleanor Simpson winning the U15W B in 5.33.3.

In the relays the U15 men took 5th in 67.7 and the U13 men were 3rd in 63.0 and the U15 ladies were 2nd in 56.4 and the U13 ladies took 1st place in 59.5. The U15 men were 2nd in 3.08.9 in the 4 x 300 and the ladies were 2ndin 3.15.3.

In the jumps Harry Hamer took 1st place in the U13M A high jump with a clearance of 1.38 and Olivia Spataro won the U13 W A high jump leaping 1.30, Alice Cattell also won the U13W B competition with 1.15. Jack Richardson was 4th in the U15M A long jump with a distance of 2.27, Harry Hamer claimed victory in the U13M A long jump with 3.96, Theo Ulfig was 4th in the U13M B long jump with 2.62. Elissa Rukweza was 3rdwith 4.19 in the U15W A long jump with Aisha Abdulla taking 2nd in the U15W A comp with 3.73. Samantha Agomoh was 1st in the U13W A long jump with 4.17, Grace Hamer was 3rd with 3.07 in the U13W B comp.

In the throws Aryan Kumar Pal was 5th with 3.92 in the U15M A shot, Aisha Abdulla was 1st with 7.90 in the U15W A shot, Eleanor Simpson was 2nd with 6.49 in the U15WB, Grace Billett was 4th with 3.70 in the U13W A. In the discus there was a win for Aisha Abdullah with 20.76 in the U15W A, Eleanor Simpson won the U15W B with 15.52. In the javelin Jack Richardson was 3rd in the U15M A with 27.83, Jonathan Yang was 4th with 14.65 in the U13M A, Lewis Neilson was 2nd with 9.18 in the U13M B. Amiyah Kumar Pal was 3rd with 9.98 in the U13W A and Poppy Richardson was 3rd with 8.15 in the U13W B.

A work commitment meant Dylan Illidge took part in the Sutton Fun Run finishing the 8 mile route in 52.22 to take 19th place and Ivan Fletcher took part in the High Elms 10k finishing in 274th place and stopping the clock on 1.18.54.

And while we were waiting for results to appear from the weekend there was more midweek action on the track with another edition of the University of Birmingham Series where Rocco Hawley smashed his PB over 1500m racing clear to finish 1st in 4.52.78 as U13. Oscar Davis claimed a big margin win in the U15 1500m in a PB of 4.20.41, Maddie Mastrolonardo competing in the same heat finished 10th in a PB of 4.43.32. Jack Bonser also raced over 1500m placing 3rd in 4.01.44, Louie Lambeth was in the same heat finishing in 8th in 4.19.37 and Tyler Hawley raced over 5000m clocking a PB of 15.48.98 for 8th place. In the throws Dave Russell recorded a distance of 20.76 in the hammer for 4th place, and 14.21 for another 4th place in the javelin.

In the gold standard BMC races at the same meeting there was a win for Ella Semple over 800m claiming victory in the B race in 2.10.99 and Amelia Samuels placed 3rd over 1500m in the A race in a PB time of 4.19.97. And Jon Hart took part in the PSUK Championships at Nuneaton racing over 5k and clocking 17.13 for 6th (or possibly 7th) as results are impossible to find.

And there was more fell action in the Rodney’s Pillar fell race over 5.2k and with 280 metres of ascent where Dan Maskew placed 4th in 23.11 and Beth Rawlinson was 1st lady and 19th overall in 27.41.
