The Easter weekend was a quiet one for athletes from Wolverhampton & Bilston AC with very little on the fixture list to attract much interest. This did give members the opportunity to get some decent training in and although the racing was limited the training certainly wasn’t.
There was some midweek action at Hereford in the first race of the Hereford Couriers 5k series. Only a couple travelled across the border, with Tyler Hawley finishing in 11th place in 16.06 to take 3rd U20, and James Neilson was chasing him all the way to the line finishing only a handful of seconds behind in 16.10 in 14th place and 2nd U17.
There was a win double on Easter Sunday for the club in the Chasewater Easter Egg 10k & 5k with Pravesh Patel claiming victory in the longer, two lap race finishing in 34.33, Lionel Spittle picked up a nice little trophy winning his age group and placing 46th in a time of 50.03 and Ivan Fletcher placed 190th in 1.09.30.
And in the shorter one lap race there was a comfortable win for Ashley Atkinson who crossed the line in 18.05, almost a minute ahead of the runner up, and Brian Wright was 4th in 19.17.
