It was a very busy period for athletes from the club which has resulted in a bumper edition this week. The first action was on Wednesday as a large group travelled the short distance to Kingswinford for the DK10k, a well-supported race around closed country lanes with a quality field in attendance. Ben Foster was first home for the club in 7th place in 34.37, Zak Sandhu-Whitton placed 14th in 34.42, Ashley Atkinson was 20th in 36.26, Paul Dean 24th in 37.19, Brian Wright was 33rd in 37.58, Dave Newport was 43nd in 39.02, being chased home by Lucy Calrow who was a place behind in 39.09 taking the 2nd ladies prize, Jay Patel was 59th in 40.43, Brett Robinson placed 64th in 41.26, Dave Norman was 76th in 42.27, Pete Hood 79th in 42.38 and 2nd M60, Paul Clarke finished 83rd in 43.03, Adam Cotterill 93rd in 43.42, Sean Whitton was 141st in 47.05.
There was action further afield in the Hereford 5k for race 2 of their 3 race series. Tyler Hawley ran a rapid 15.53 to take 3rd place and James Neilson was 5th in 15.59.
It was onto the weekend for further road race action for the Market Drayton 10k where Ashley Atkinson backed up his midweek time with 19th place in 37.33, Joe St Quinton was 23rd in 37.58, Paul Hammond was 34th in 38.29, Derrick Milligan placed 57th in 41.02, Kane Carrington finished in 42.13 in 82nd place, Andy Dyall was 97th in 42.28, Phil Evans was 156th in 44.31, Noah Carrington was 277th in 48.45, Rob Carrington was the last of the family home in 397th place in 52.07, Russ Blair placed 418th in 52.40, Ian Cresswell was 1042nd in 1.05.46 and Lesley Stamps placed 1063rd in 1.05.58.
A handful from the club took part in the Great Birmingham Run Half Marathon with the father and son team of Mark and Dylan Illidge both recording PBs with Dylan coming home first in 37th place in 1.20.24 and Mark finishing in 301st in 1.34.19. Sarah Thurley placed 391st in 1.36.25, Lorna Hulme took on pacing duties after her recent sub 3 hour marathon getting the job done by finishing in 524th place in 1.38.56 and Matt Guy was 775th in 1.43.04. And in the 10k there was a 44th place finish for Danny Malone in 37.08, Leny Hall Placed 1417th in 1.02.12 and Ivan Fletcher was 1815th in 1.06.45.
There was further action on the roads in the Geneva Marathon where, you guessed it, our two intrepid marathon runners were in action again, or maybe they just went to Switzerland to open a bank account to store all their medals. Dave Joynson was 196th in 3.19.04 and Gillian Mitchell crossed the line in 5.21.05 to take 1834th place.
There was more track action on Sunday in the UK Youth Development League Lower – Midlands Northeast Division D, and you need a run up for the title. Lewis Neilson recorded a PB in the U13M 75m in a time of 13.6 taking 6th place, Poppy Richardson also bagged a PB with 13.1 in the U17W 75m nsA race, Ameira Moulder was 1st in the U13W B race over 75m in 1.1, again a PB and Keira Moulder also PBd in the U13W A 75m with 11.7. Jack Richardson was 5th in the 100 U15M A race in a seasons best 14.7, Theo Nicholls was 3rd in 13.5 in the 100 U15M B race in 13.5, Alesha Taylor was 4th in 14.1 in the 100 U15W A race in 14.1 and Brianna Sailsman was 4th in 15.1 in the 100 U15W B.
Over 150 metres there was a 4th place finish for Erin-Mia Nash in 23.9 in the U13W A and a 3rd place for Amiyah Kumar Pal in 24.8 in the U13W B race. Over 200 metres Theo Nicholls placed 4th in 28.5 in the U15M A in 28.5, Alesha Taylor was 3rd in 30.0 in the U15W A and Brainna Sailsman was 4th in 34.0 in the B race.
On to 300 metres where Aaryan Kumar Pal placed 4th in 50.0 in the U15M A, Belle Willoughby was 5th in 54.4 in the U15W A and Macy Read was 2nd in 49.9 in the U15W B.
Over 800m Sam Ball was 4th in 2.16.3 in the U15M A, Will Hughes was 2nd in 2.27.5 in the B race and Aryan Kumar Pal was 1st in 2.35.3 in the nsA race. Jonathan Yang placed 2nd in 2.33.5 in the U13M A race, Theo Ulfig was 2nd in 2.45.8 in the B race. Ronni Read was 1st in 2.29.5 in the U13W A and Lucy Horton claimed 1st place in the B race in a time of 2.28.1. Macy Read also bagged a win the nsA race in 2.47.8 and Belle Willoughby won the nsA B race in 3.11.4. Kiki Guest was 1st in the U13W A race in 2.37.8 and Clara Butler-Montero was 1st in the U13W B in 2.50.5 with Maya Rosa Jelic Ramesh winning the U13W nsA in 3.02.7.
Over 1200m there was a 2nd place finish for Rocco Hawley in 3.55.3 in the U13M A, a 3rd place for Gracie Billett in 4.26.9 in the U13W A and a win for Alice Cattell in the U13W B in 4.26.1.
Over 1500m Oscar Davis took the victory in 4.21.2 in the U15M A with Grace Hendy placing 2nd in 5.14.7 in the U15W A race.
The club placed 5th in the U15M 4 x 100 in 56.4, 3rd in the U13M 4 x 400 in 66.8, 5th in the U15W 4 x 100 in 58.5, 2nd in the U14W 4 x 100 in 62.8. And in the 4 x 300 relays there was a 3 place finish in 3.02.0 for the U15M and a win the U15W in 3.13.8.
In the jumps Theo Nichols cleared 1.54 for first place in the U15M high jump, and Grace Hendy cleared 1.25 for equal 3rd in the U15W high jump with Alice Cattell clearing 1.15 for 2nd in the U13 W A competition. Jack Richardson was 2nd with 4.31 in the U15M A long jump and Jonathan Yang recorded 3.32 to take 4th place in the U13M A long jump, with Theo Ulfig marking 2.82 for 5thplace in the B event. Lucy Horton was 3rd with 3.44 in the U15W A long jump and Amiyah Kumar Pal recorded 2.80 in the U13W A comp, Poppy Richardson was 3rdwith 2.07 in the U13W B.
And finally in the throws Lewis Neilson threw 3.63 for 4thin the U13M A shot, Eleanor Simpson was 1st with 7.51 in the U15W A shot and 2nd with 15.99 in the discus. Jack Richardson was 3rd in the U15M A javelin with a throw of 27.41 and Will Hughes was 3rd in the U15M B javelin with 11.94, Lewis Neilson was 5th in the U13M A javelin with 10.86 and Poppy Richardson claimed a win with 9.32 in the U13W A competition.
