Weekly Update -18th August 2023

There were a few options available this week for athletes from Wolves & Bilston AC and there is certainly an end of season feel to things as we move from the tail end of the track season into the autumn road relays and winter cross country calendar.

There was some weekend track action in Nuneaton at the Midland Counties AA Championships, where Jack Bonser recorded a PB of 8.33.36 to take 2nd place over 3000m, Louie Lambeth placed 12th in 9.22.02 in the same race, and Finley Powell placed second on count back in the U17 high jump with a clearance of 1.85.

We had a single representative at Stretford for a BMC meeting which was littered with top class athletes looking for qualifying times. Isobelle Jones placing 2nd in a PB of 4.19.73 in her 1500m race.

The marathon journey continued for Dave Joynson and Gill Mitchell as they travelled to the land of the three legged flag and the cats with no tails, the Isle of Man, for yet another 26.2 mile adventure. Dave clocked 3.25.12 to place 23rd overall and take 1st M60, and Gill was 74thand 1st F55 in 6.03.02.

On Wednesday Paul Marson took part in the Cannock Chase the Sun 10k where he finished in 6thplace stopping the clock in 41.47.

And Beth Rawlinson continued her impressive form on the fells in the Ragleth Inn fell race in Shropshire, covering the 4.5k distance which included 465 metres of ascent in a rapid 32.28 to take 7th overall and claim victory in the ladies race.
