It was a quiet week again for athletes from Wolverhampton & Bilston AC, it’s all peaks and then troughs at the moment, but you can argue that this was certainly no trough weeks for those that took part.
Dave Joynson and Gill Mitchell continued their march towards a massive total of three hundred marathons and this weekend they were in Spain to tick off another one, the XXXIX Zurich Maraton de Sevilla. Dave was 2609th in an ultra-consistent time of 3.13.20 and Gill was 9069th clocking another solid time of 5.05.35.
There was further club action at Lea Valley in the British Masters Indoor Championship. Greg Asbury threw himself into the spirit of things placing 7th in the M50 triple jump with a leap of 9.67, 5th in the M50 800m in 2.12.34, and claiming a superb bronze medal in the M50 400m clocking a new PB of 56.89. Garry Palmer didn’t have the ideal prep after getting stuck in traffic but made it in time to place 6th in the M50 1500m with a time of 4.55.28.
