Weekly Update 20th October 2023

It’s either feast or famine at the moment for athletes from Wolverhampton & Bilston AC. It was a lean time at the weekend in between the culmination of the road relays and the start of the cross-country season but athletes from the club were still able to find opportunities to compete.

Dan Turner claimed a win in the Wellington 10k on his home turf (although this was tarmac) crossing the line 5 seconds ahead on the runner up in a time of 34.31. Also over 10k there was a 9th place finish for Luke Maskew at Oswestry in 34.46, Sabrina Thomas placed 55th in 42.45.In the Manchester Half Marathon there was a 1.28.21 finish for Phil Evans, 7th in the M60 age group and 531st overall. And a little further north a couple took part in the Lakeland Trails Helvellyn 15k, a tough race up and down Cumbrian hills and valleys. Pete Hood was 41st and 3rd M60 in 1.15.55, despite a little tumble, Dave Norman stayed upright and came home safe in 75th in 1.20.36.
