There is only one place to start this week’s round up of Wolves & Bilston action and that is Sutton Park, the venue to the Midlands Counties Road Relays on Saturday. Let’s start with the U13 boys team who claimed the gold medal with the A team of Will Hughes 14.21, Fred Jones 12.19 and Sam Ball 13.21 finishing in a total time of 40.01, almost two and a half minutes ahead of Wreake & Soar Valley in 2nd and Charnwood AC in 3rd, with Fred also running the fastest leg on the day. The B team on William Bassford 14.48, Isaac Danbury 15.22 and Harry Dornan 15.22 were 9th in 45.43. The U13 girls just missed out on a medal in 4thplace with Grace Hendy 15.02, Lucy Horton 16.18 and Maisie Roberts 17.14 finishing in 48.34. The B team were 20th in 55.19 with Kiki Guest 17.28, C Butler Montero 19.26 and Alice Cattell 18.25.
There was another win in the U15 boys race with Oscar Davies 12.58, Owen Ulfig 12.13, and Sam Thursfield 12.57 bringing the club home in 38.08 in a much tighter affair. The B team of Jack Stockton 13.33, Jayden Burdish 13.59 and Kane Carrington 15.15 finished in 16thplace in 42.47, with Owen running the fastest leg to take the club from 6th into the lead on the second leg. The U15 girls were 10th in a time of 47.56 with Ronni Read 15.07, Scarlett Willoughby 15.29 and Ruby Buggins 17.20. And the B team of Eleanor Simpson 17.36, Madison Farley17.20 and Zena Asbury 16.39 were 22ndin 51.35.
The U17 men finished in 12th in 40.46 with James Neilson 12.58, Z Sandhu Whitton 13.17 and Theo Palmer 14.21. And the U17 women picked up an excellent silver medal less than 60 seconds behind the winners Exeter Harriers in 41.21 with Scarlett Williams 14.19, Isobelle Jones 13.16, Ava Kind 13.46.
The senior men ran teams of 6 with the A team of Pravesh Patel 19.12, Dan Turner 19.26, Ashley Atkinson 21.33, Tyler Hawley 19.22, Ben Foster 21.04 and Jack Bonser 19.23 finishing in 31st in 2.00.31. The B Team of Greg Asbury 22.04, Dylan Illidge 20.51, Anthony Parkes 20.53, Chris Apperley 22.22, Richard Wright 22.17 and Dave Newport 2314 were 60th in 2.11.41. In the masters event the A team were 7th with Dave Norman 23.22, Gareth Briggs 22.24, Dave Lewis 22.34, Steve Ulfig 21.36, Rob Cartwright 21.02 and Shaun Bennett 22.52 finishing in 2.13.50. The B team of Andy Dyall 23.40, Tony Cheema 23.28, Rob Edwards 27.34, Mark Illidge 25.26, Lee Partridge 25.22 and Roger Grand 23.43 were 16th in 2.29.24. And a two-man C team finished, or a man and a half after Garry Palmer limped round to complete a lap in 38.28 after being struck down with calf trouble and Ben Mescam was 2nd off the start finishing in 25.38.
In the senior ladies event, a strong team just missed out on a medal by about 90 seconds finishing 5th in 1.04.41with Ella Semple 15.30, Maddie Mastrolonardo 17.11, Beth Tabor 15.50 and Isobel Cotham 16.11. The B team were 33rd with Holly Baddeley 16.58, Hannah Corns 18.37, Jo Hackett 19.59 and Danni Braine 20.19 finishing in a total time of 1.15.53. And in the masters event the A team were 5th just over a minute off a medal in 1.14.11 with Sarah Thurley 17.55, Ceri Card 19.28, Sabrina Thomas 17.08 and Emily Simmonds 19.40.
There was more action of the half marathon distance in the Tissington Trail Half where Ben Pilsbury finished 5thin 1.21.02 and Lee Pearson was 11th in 1.23.08 and Pete Hood took advantage of a race when on holiday by taking part in the inaugural Santorini Half Marathon, despite the hilly course Pete took 5th place in a time of 1.36, with the winner crossing the line in 1.21 leading home a small field of just 45 runners from an entry of 75.
And over the 10k distance Nick Beach finished the Wem 10k in a new PB of 39.46 in 8th place and 1st MV40 with Mark Perry in 67th in 47.53. Whilst in the Stafford 10k Pravesh Patel was 3rd in 33.21, Rob Cartwright crossed the line in 30th place in 37.55, Lucy Calrow finished in a fantastic 2nd place in the ladies race claiming 35th overall in a time of 38.18, Paul Hobson was 514th in 50.57 and Russ Blair was 1174th crossing the line in 1.08.58.
