New Track and Field Officials Needed

The 2026 track and field season is approaching us and we are looking to recruit new volunteers to help our club provide a full team of officials at meetings during the summer and beyond.

If you are parent already attending club events supporting your child a coach, or an athlete 16 and over we would like to hear from you. You can play a vital role ensuring we can deliver athletics in a safe fair enjoyable environment, without officials and volunteers athletics would not take place.

The roles in which we need your help would be Track official, Field official, and a Timekeeper official. We are fortunate that we have a dedicated team of officials who are happy to pass on their experience and provide some mentoring to help you have a good understanding of the requirements of the roles mentioned. Unfortunately, we have not got enough officials within the club to cover all the meetings. The club needs to provide a team of seven officials at most league meetings which includes the following 1 track 1 timekeeper and a team of 5 field judges.

If you are interested in officiating for Wolves & Bilston at club meetings you will need  to attend an officials course in your chosen discipline. Most of the courses available are virtual online you will need to complete an online self-paced Health and safety module an online Safeguarding module and have a valid DBS.

Anyone can train to become an official, by joining one of the courses that England Athletics run – many of which are now carried out online. The club will cover the costs, subject to a commitment to continue to work with the club.

If you’re interest please contact Noel McKakly, Officials Secretary, either at the club on a club night or call/text him on 07748 174945
