Turkey Trot 2025 – clarification

Our annual Turkey Trot takes place tomorrow and we are looking forward to seeing over 200 runners taking part in the race which starts and ends at Aldersley Stadium.

We’re grateful to the Express & Star for promoting the race though we do need to make a couple of small clarifications. Firstly, for the local community, we haven’t requested road closures and don’t expect the run to cause any disruption to traffic or bus routes.

Secondly, in years gone by we traditionally gave every runner a gift of a turkey at the end of the race. However, over time tastes changed, many more people chose not to eat meat and we started to see an increase in the number of people not wanting to take a turkey at the end of the race, leaving us with a surplus. As we don’t want to contribute to food waste, a few years ago we made the decision to switch to cash prizes for the winners of the various age groups and a small gift for every runner who took part. Despite this change, the name Turkey Trot continues as it’s become synonymous with our club. This year every runner will receive a drawstring bag and neck buff. Cash prizes are as follows:

Senior Male and Female 1st £40  2nd £30 3rd £20

*Bonus for course records of £50 in both  male and female races: Men’s  Record 25:38  Women’s  Record 27:15

Prizes for Age Group Winners: U20 Male / Female £15 Senior Male/Female £15 and first Male and Female in the following categories over  35  over 40, over 50, and over 60, age group categories- £15.

We hope everyone enjoys the race and we look forward to seeing the usual array of fabulous festive costumes.
