Week Round Up: Sat 2nd and Sun 3rd Feb

Another busy weekend for the runners of Wolverhampton and Bilston.

Staffordshire Schools Cross Country Championships, Staffs University, Stoke on Trent: Congratulations to Ryan Hodgkiss, Kay Oakley, Rebekh Warren and Daniel Watling who qualified for the English Schools Championships to be held at Coton Park, Derbyshire on March 16th.

Saturday: The inaugral Park Run was held at West Park. It is a 5k rum and will start at 9:00am every Saturday morning. Full details of how to get involved are on www.parkrun.org.uk/wolverhampton/  There were about 100 athletes of which 22 were from the club. In the mens we had 7 in the top ten; Dave Smith 1st 16:25, Brian Wright 2nd 17:03. The ladies race was won by Kathryn Morgans in a course record time of 19:54.

On a lovely sunny morning 12 athletes joined John Brown on a run  in Kingswood followed by a big breakfast at the Summerhouse. Paul Carroll has posted some good photos on Facebook. Also happening was a junior schools cross country at Aldersley.

Sunday: The Midland Masters was held at Aldersley, this was rearranged from two weeks ago when we had all the snow. Audrey buy ativan from mexico Wilson came 3rd overall and second in the over 40’s. A strong squad of Pincher, Eden, Calrow, Darren Edwards and Carl Morgan came 3rd in the team competition. Many thanks to all our marshalls and volunteers, special thanks to Duncan Davies who was at the club at 8:00am on Saturday and 6:00am on Sunday to start laying the course out, also to Anna Carroll assisted by Jess, for doing such a good job on the refreshments.

The Stourbidge stagger also took place this event was won by Dan Brazier last year, Dave Smith had a good run coming 2nd and in the Ladies, Debby Blaleman was 4th and won the seniors competition.

Next Saturday: Colin Thompson tells me that we have got access to Fordhouses Cricket Club when we get back from Perry Park (Men) and Cheltenham (Ladies). Showers are available and we have got use of the function room all night. If you would like to bring your family along please do so to make a night of it.
