The spring marathon season started with action on the south coast for athletes from Wolverhampton & Bilston AC as a small group of club members travelled to Brighton to test themselves over the classic 26.2 mile distance. Anna Moore was first back for the club in 4.29.58 to take 1436th place and Nico Campbell was 5712th in 4.44.13.
There was some track and field action at Nuneaton as the open meeting season burst into life, and there were plenty willing to take advantage of the early season opportunities with 19 separate heats over 100m and 150 athletes competing in the short sprint alone. There was a 2nd place finish in his heat for Josh Welford in 11.65, Psalm Roberts-Nash was 2nd in 11.69, Chyloh McKenzie placed 2nd in 12.10, Aupromeyo Mukherjee was 4th in 12.54 12.54, La-Taunya Samuels was 5th in 12.96, Samatha Agomoh was 6th in 13.30, Michelle Okafor was 3rd in 13.54, Gabriella Okafor was 4th in 14.13 and Mariama Foster placed 5th in 14.64.
And there was some throwing at Telford in another renewal of the Black Country Hammerfest where Wolves & Bilston athletes were very much to the fore. In the first competition Vienos Abdullah throwing 33.99 for a PB, there was another PB for Georgina Neilson with a throw of 34.67 in the U20s category. Aisha Abdullah also bagged a PB with a throw of 44.80 in the U17s. In the second comp Venios managed 32.66 and Aisha recorded 38.41, while Georgina extended her PB with a throw of 35.01. In the B competition Amelia Hancock bagged a throw of 35.96 in the first comp and then 36.93 in the second comp, with Ethan Kendrick recording 54.08 and 59.51 with a 5k hammer.
