With the Youth Development League fixture suffering a late cancellation and a postponement until the 2nd August there was less on the calendar at the weekend, but still plenty happening for our club members.
It was another golden weekend for our throwing sensation, Ethan Kendrick, who won a gold medal at the English Schools Championship with a throw of 64.19, claiming the win by almost 7 metres from the runner up. Aisha Abdulla placed 7th in the Intermediate Girls hammer throwing 46.55, and there was some sprint action as Samantha Ogomoh placed 4th over 100 in the IG Final in 12.04, having won her heat in 11.82, and also placing 1st in the semi-final in 11.80. Ava Robinson was 7th in 12.73 in the Junior Girls 100 heat.
On the roads Paul Dean took part in the London 10k placing 377th in another incredibly consistent time of 38.52.
And it was on to Ironbridge for race number 5 of Telford AC’s Sexarathon Series, the Ironbridge 4, going out alongside the river, over the road bridge and back along the Silken Way. There was another win for Jonny Morris, this time on the relatively flat roads rather than last week’s fells, coming home in 21.06, Will Hughes was 11th and 1st U20 in 23.20, Dab Maskew placed 13th in 23.37 to claim 1st M35, Paul Dean was 23rd in 24.34, James Hodgkiss was 59th and 3rd U20 in 26.58, Chris Staien was 88th in 28.56, Beth Dyall placed 96th in 29.29, Simon Calrow 98th and 2nd M65 in 29.33, Katie Staien was 105th and 2nd F35 in 30.10, Rob Edwards 115th in 30.37, Andy Dyall 120th in 30.47, Nico Campbell 163rd in 32.51 and Suzanne Giles finished in 234th place in 38.16.
