Weekly update – 28th July 2026

There was plenty of action for the club to get involved in over the last few days, results have been a little slow to come out hence the delay, but we’ll start with some track action as the youth, the seniors and the veterans were all out in force in the leagues.

There was some Lower YDL action at Worcester where the club finished 2nd behind Shrewsbury AC. In the U16s Aupromeyo Mukherjee placed 2nd over 100m in the A race in 11.8, Shae McIntosh was 2nd in the B race in 12.9. Over 200m there was another 2ndplace for Aupro in 24.0 and Tyann Mahey placed 2ndin the B race in 25.9. Over 300 metres Shae McIntosh was 3rd in the A race in 40.1. Nahum Worrall placed 3rd in the U16 800m A in 2.19.5 and Aaron Guest placed 2nd in 2.31.0 in the B race. In the field events Tyann Mahey claimed a win in the U16 long jump A with a leap of 4.98 metres, Shae McIntosh won the B event with 4.08. In the throws Jake Faulkner was 3rd with 8.15 in the U16 boys shot, and Lewis Neilson was 2nd in the B competition with 6.32.Jake also won the boys hammer with 20.03 and Lewis won the B event with 15.95, Jake also bagged the win in the A javelin with 30.38 with Lewis having to settle with the runners up spot with 21.61 in the B event.

In the girls side of the competition Samantha Agomoh won the U16G 100m A with 11.9, Michelle Okafor won the B race with 12.09. Samantha won the U16G 200m A with 24.7 and Michelle won the B race in 26.8. Over 300m Maya Rosa Jelic Ramesh was 4th in the A race in 54.2. Clara Butler-Montero was 3rd in the U16G 100m A in 2.41.0 and Charlotte Rogers won the B race in 2.52.3. Over 1500m Amiyah Pal was 4th in the A race in 6.20.5 and Alice Cattell was 2nd in the B race in 7.02.1. Alice also came 3rd in the U16G high jump clearing 1.20. In the field Esi Djabanor won the U16G shot with a 7.78 metre throw, Charlotte Rogers won the B event with 5.12. Esi was 2nd in the A javelin with 22.66, and a team of Clara, Alice, Charlotte and Amiyah were 3rd in the 4 x 300m relay in 3.34.7.

In the U14s section of the competition Elijah Enwerem was 1st over 80m hurdles, winning a U14B A race in 13.7. Tate-Blu Quintyne-Smith was 4th over 100m in 13.5 in the A race, and came 3rd over 200m in 27.8, while Gabriel Quintyne-Morris was 1st in the 200m B race in 27.5. Cameron Guest placed 3rd in the U14B 800m A in 2.42.2. In the jumps Tate-Blu was 2nd in the horizontal with a leap of 4.22, with Gabriel also coming 2nd in the B event with 4.15. In the vertical jump Elijah Enwerem cleared 1.40 in the A competition to take the win. In the throws Thomas Rowbotham was 2nd in the U14B A shot with 8.84, won the discus with 17.17, more than double the distance thrown by the runner up and won the hammer with 18.54. George Shaw won the U14B javelin with 25.19. In the relays Elijah, Gabriel, Tate-Blu and Cameron won the 4 x 100m in 55.6.

In the girls competition Ava Robinson won the U14G A 100m in 12.5, Ava also won the 200m with 25.7, Dylis Tama was 2nd in the B 200m with 29.0. Martha Harris was 3rd in the U14G 800m A in 2.55.0, Chloe Cashmore-Jones was 3rd in the U15G A 1500m with 5.21.5. In the throws Yonitse Djabanor was 3rd in the U14G A shot with 6.23, Ava Robinson won the U14G A discus with 19.25 and Yonitse won the javelin with 13.30.

The Seniors were in action at Tamworth in the MCAA T & F league finishing 5th, and although some results are being questioned this is what we have so far, over a week later.

Chyloh McKenzie placed 2nd over 100m coming home in 11.1 in the A race, Joshia Tchoua won one version of the B/C race in 11.4 and Cyon Watson-Nash was 3rd in another B/C race with 12.7. Chyloh was 5th over 200 with 22.9, with James Crust running 22.8 for 1st place in the B/C race and Joshua running 23.3 for another win in a B/C race. James was 2nd over 400m in the A race clocking 51.6. Over 800m Thomas Pryor, (noted the spelling as always Tom for Power of 10 purposes and just general politeness), was 2nd in a rapid 2.01.7, surely showing that with the right training a sub 2 minutes clocking is on the cards. Jag Singh Bopari ran in the B race coming home in 3rd place in 2.08.7. Greg Asbury made a 400m hurdles debut placing 2nd in 69.0, Gary Worrall placed 4th in the 1500m with 4.31.5, with Jag running another fine B string race in 3rd clocking 4.32.7. Danny Malone was 7th in the 3000m with 10.38.2. The club placed 2nd in the 4 x 100m with 44.9 and 4th in the 4 x 400m in 4.17.4. In the field Nacardo Lewis placed 3rd with 6.13, Theo Nicholls won the B event with 5.67, Nacardo won the triple jump with a leap of 13.29, Theo Ricketts winning the B event with 12.19. Joe Deans was 4th in the shot throwing 7.84 metres, Jahzi Tucker was 6thin the discus with 18.69, Joe was 6th in the hammer with 16.98, with Jahzi coming 4th in the javelin with 33.14.

In the ladies events Kayliah Henry placed 5th over 100m in 13.7, Nteokan Egopija was 2nd in 13.4 in the B race, Kayliah was 5th over 200m in 28.0, with Nteokan placing 2nd in the B race clocking 28.5. Louise Webster raced over 400m coming home in 6th place in 98.5, Amelia Hancock ran in the B race placing 5th in 97.2. Over 800m Lucie Tait-Harris placed 4th in 2.37.0 and Sabrina Thomas was 3rd over 3000m in 12.09.3. In the field events Kayliah claimed 4th spot in the long jump with a distance of 4.67 metres, Nteokan was 2nd in the B competition with 3.90 and Amelia Hancock was 3rd with 2.14. Louise Webster was 3rd in the shot with 9.26, Amelia Hancock came 6th with 6.12 in the B event, Louise was 5th in the discus with 20.23, Amelia  placing 5th with 16.72 in the B comp, Louise was a close runner up in the hammer with 36.28, Amelia claimed the B event top spot throwing 34.03 metres, Louise also bagged the 4th position in the A javelin with 23.12 with Amelia finishing in 5th place in the B with 13.08.

As guest we also had a 11.6 100m for Leo Norris, a 12.00 100m for Jahzi Tucker, a 12.1 100m for Theo Nicholls, a 23.3 200m from Leo and a 4.29.6 1500m for Tom Pryor.

The older brigade were in Vets League action in midweek at Sutton Park for the final fixture and a chance to qualify for the cup final in September is both mens and womens teams could finish high enough in the league to reach the “playoff” stage. The men placed 2nd on the night and 2nd overall with the women placing joint 2nd on the night and 4th overall which guarantees an appearance at the A Cup Final, the Champions League version having won the Europa League equivalent last year.

Over 200m Dave Guest ran 40.8 to take 4th place in the M70 category, Paul Rogers was 4th in the M60 in 34.6, Greg Asbury won the M50s in 26.2, Paul Clarke nursed an injury round to finish 4th in the M40s in 31.6 and Gary Worrall was 5th in 30.0 in the M35s. In the 800 Phil Evans ran 2.52.5 to take 4th in the M60s, Gary Worrall won the M40s in 2.13.8 and Danny Malone was 3rd in the M35 in 2.22.5. In the walk Paul Rogers won the M35 in 10.30.5 and Phil Evans was 2nd in 12.16.2 in the M50. Over 3000m Danny Malone clocked 11.17.8 for 5th place in the M35, Dave Norman was also 5th in the M40 with 12.03.0 and Paul Rogers was 5th in the M60 with 11.31.4. The relay team of Greg, Paul, Danny and Gary came home in 3rd place in the 4 x 100m in 54.1. In the field Danny Malone recorded a very brave 1.60 to take 3rd place in the M35 pole vault, in the M35 javelin Joe Deans threw 21.71 for 3rd place, Paul Rogers recorded a distance of 5.01 in the M60 triple jump for 4th place, Dave Guest threw 12.48 in the M70 javelin for 3rd, and in the shot Lee Thornton won the M35 category with 12.48 and Phil Evans was 5th in the M60s with 6.38.Greg Asbury was equal 2nd in the M50 high jump clearing 1.35 gaining a valuable half point.

In the ladies side of things Cheryl Graham was 3rd in the F50 200m with 34.2, Julia Condon ran 49.2 in the F40s for 4th place, Claire Bradley was 3rd in the F35 200m in 39.3. Over 800m Lucie Tait-Harris won the F40 in 2.41.9 and Emily Simmonds was 2nd in the F35 in 2.53.7. Julia Condon was 4th in the F35 walk with 14.32.1 and Cheryl Graham produced a dip finish only to find out that the lady she was racing was in a different category, Cheryl came 4th with 13.25. Over 3000m Sabrina Thomas was 3rd in 11.58.5 in the F35, Claire Bradley was 3rd in the F40 in 15.44.7 and Lucie Tait-Harris claimed another maximum points with a win in the F50s with 12.12.0. In the 4 x 100m Emily, Sabrina, Cheryl and Natalie Griffiths placed 3rd in 67.7. In the field Louise Webster was 2nd with 20.95 in the F35 javelin, Louise was 1st in the F35 shot with 8.93, Cheryl was 4th in the F50 high jump clearing 1.05, and as guests Natalie Griffiths ran 12.22.9 over 3000m, and Joe Deans threw 8.61 in the shot. 

There was more track action at Bedford for the England Athletics U18 & U16 Championships where Leo Watson finished 8th over 100m in 11.43, Chyloh McKenzie was 5th over 100m in 10.79, Samantha Agomoh was 5th in 11.92 over the same distance which took her into a second race where she placed 2nd in 11.88. Over 200m Leo placed 4th in 22.14, and 5th in 22.02, Samantha ran 24.36 for 4th place, and 24.10 to take 2nd with Thillana Owen placing 7th in the same race in 26.41

There was some action on the road at Sutton Park too where Craig Smith took part in the Birmingham Running Festival Half Marathon placing 55th in 1.46.57.

And finally, race two of Tipton Harriers Black Country Run Series took place on Thursday evening over a super-fast, out and back course on the newly tarmacked railway line from Himley to Wombourne. Our friend from Birchfield Harriers, Omar Ahmed, made light work of the course scorching home in an incredible 13.59, after a 4.30 first mile, and that one is slightly uphill. Our own Fred Jones chased him home in 2nd place finishing in 14.50 and breaking the 15-minute mark for the first time, with Isobelle Jones taking the win in the ladies race and mixing it with the best of the men in 10th overall stopping the clock in 15.50. Rocco Hawley was 7th in 15.41, Luke Maskew placed 12th in 16.29, Paul Rogers placed 57th overall and took 1st M60 honours in 19.25, Dave Norman was 70th and 1st M55 in 20.18, Pete Campbell placed 137th in 24.33 and Amara Gill was 170th in 26.08.
