Weekly update- 20th March 2025

Let’s start this week’s round up with a missing piece of the jigsaw, Sundeep Sunar recorded a rapid 39.38 in the Chester 10k to finish in 148th place, I wasn’t aware that Sunny had raced until a few days later when his performance was referred to on a groups Facebook page.

There was some midweek-ish action down in London where Lucie Tait-Harris took part in the Friday Night Under the Lights 5k in Battersea Park, which contrary to the race title was on a Thursday this month. Lucie was looking for a qualifying time for another event later in the year and clocked 19.17 for 54th place in race 2 on the night, she finished 12th lady and 1st in her age group on an evening dominated by the super-fast athletes from the London and South West clubs.

There was more rapid action over the same distance in Leicestershire at the Podium Festival 5k where Isobelle Jones was rubbing shoulders with some of the best senior females in the country. In a race which featured Katie Snowden, Verity Ockenden, Georgie Grgec, Izzy Fry and India Weir, our own Isobelle was certainly not out of place coming home in 13th position in a superb 15.50 to take the 1st U20 place.

There was a runners up finish for Dan Maskew over double the distance in the Draycote Water 10k, Dan was only 7 seconds off the leader but almost 3 minutes ahead of the 3rd placed athlete stopping the clock in 33.37, over what was described as a gently undulating route around the reservoir.

And there was action of the Spanish variety over the marathon distance in Barcelona where Dave Joynson was 3961st in 3.17.20 and Gill Mitchell finished in 5.22.14 t place 21020th.
