Weekly update – 25th February 2025

We’ll start this week’s round up with some indoor action from the previous week where some of our athletes took advantage of the boards being up at the Utilita Arena in Birmingham for some competition.

Psalm Roberts Nash experienced an issue with the electronic timing, his performance was clocked at 48.87 for 2nd place over 400, but the malfunction recorded his performance at 49.3 on Power of 10. There were similar issues in the 200 where times were also impacted. Roshan Gordon was clocked at 24.6 for 1st place over 200, and Kayliah Henry was 4th over the same distance in her heat in 29.5.

There was cross country action in London at the National Championships returned to Parliament Hill. Megan White was our only representative in the U17 ladies race coming home in 92nd place in 24.35, Rocco Hawley placed a superb 5th in the U13 boys race in a time of 12.17, Harry Monkton was 66th in 13.35 and Nahum Worrall was 121stin 14.08. Beth Rawlinson raced in the Junior Women’s race placing a fantastic 15th in 27.06, we had a trio compete in the Seniors Women’s race with Emily Simmonds placing 411th in 43.46, Vanessa Landreau-Barnes 625th in 50.26 and Abbie Thompson was 748th in 57.09. Gary Worrall was our solitary Senior Men’s representative placing 59th in 59.14 after losing a shoe in the mud.

There was no mud indoors at Lea Valley but lots of effort in the British Masters Indoor Championships over the two days, where Greg Asbury placed 6th in the M50 triple jump with a leap of 9.93, he also placed 6th over 200 in 26.05 and 5th over 800 in 2.13.82 on Saturday. Greg was back again on Sunday where he placed 4th in the M50 400 in 56.70.

Lucie Tait-Harris claimed victory in the W50 1500 in 5.24.85 to claim the British Masters title, adding the metric mile to her championship win over 3000 at Sheffield a few weeks ago. Two gold medals and two British Masters titles in a month starting the year off well for the Wolves athlete.

We’ll finish off by going outdoors again, but this time on the tarmac for some marathon action in Spain, where Dave Joynson finished in a time of 3.15.30 to place 2974thand Gill Mitchell was 10571st in 5.30.31 in the Seville Marathon.
