There is some catching up to do from Bank Holiday Monday before we get into the usual weekly update as Kidderminster & Stourport AC staged their KSAC Mike Lambert Open track & field meeting.

Aisha Abdullah was 3rd in the U15 and above shot with 10.89.

The weekend action started on Friday night with a fast lap around the country lanes in the Mid Cheshire 5k. Advertised as a quick circuit which attracted some top-class athletes, this was an opportunity to put down a good time which proved to be a good reason for two hours in the car. Jon Hart was first back for the club in 48th, and 1st in his age group in an agonising 15.00, Louie Lambeth was  146th in 15.56, Jack Stockton finished in 16.03 to take 161st, Tom Isherwood was 266th in 16.48, Beth Tabor was 417th overall and 32nd female in 17.35, Alex Kelly ran a rapid 17.47 for 471st place, Tony Cheema was 491st in 17.53, Steve Newman clocked 18.02 in 512th place, Joe Flatley was 646th in 19.14 and Dave Norman was 823rd in 21.27. Lucie Tait-Harris was in the same race but a separate international competition having been chosen to represent England against Wales, she stopped the clock in 18.54 to take 1st place in her age group and 595th overall in national colours.

There was club representation at the School Games where Ethan Kendrick placed 2nd in the boys hammer with a throw of 51.80 metres.

And there was some midweek action in the final race on Telford ACs Sexarathon Series in the 5k Harper Scarper. Rob Cartwright brought the club home in 24th place in 17.29, Tony Cheema was 37th in 18.28, Dave Newport was 43rd in 18.36, Lorna Hulme placed 58th in 19.27, Phil Evans was 80th in 20.10, James Hodgkiss 84th in 20.18, Simon Calrow 103rd in 21.13, Rob Edwards 113th in 21.40, Ian Thursfield 118th in 21.39, Adam Cotterill 119th in 21.44, Rob Edwards 123rd in 21.58, Steve Newman 126th in 21.42, Sean Rowe 131st in 22.40, Veronika Foster 134th in 22.46, Jo Lane 142nd in 22.49, Mark Perry 190th in 24.34 and Craig Buggins 212th in 25.21.

There was also some club representation in the Midlands Vets Track & Field Final in Nuneaton but results are slow to arrive, their website only goes up to July at the moment so we may have to wait some time. It’s a similar story for results of the Stavanger Marathon where Dave Joynson hopefully completed his 241st race of that distance and Gill Mitchell on in target to go through her 239th but their website only shows details of the 2023 renewal, we may have to keep an eye on this in the future.
